So what’s the difference between a Domestic Electrical Installation Condition Report and a Domestic Visual Condition Report?
The main difference between the two reports is that the VCR does not look at the fixed wiring. So this is the wiring you can not see. The wiring behind sockets, switches, in walls and under floorboards. This test only looks at the circuits which are terminated in the fuse box. An EICR looks more in depth. So will look and test the wiring behind sockets, switches, in walls and under floorboards, as well as the circuits which are terminated in the fuse box. An EICR can determin whether your property requires a rewire. A VCR can not do this. This test can be done at any point when you feel you’d like your electrics just looking at and not testing. Not suitable for buying/selling or renting properties.
